California congressional candidate Anna Cheng is from Taiwan and actively participates in politics
Anna Cheng Kramer was born in Taiwan and is this year’s candidate for Congress in California’s 15th District. She came to the United States to study in her early years and received a bachelor's degree in economics from Whitman College in Washington State. She later obtained an MBA from Santa Clara University and became a U.S. citizen in 1984.
Anna Cheng worked in commercial real estate in her early years and served as the chief operating officer of Peninsula Housing Alliance, the largest affordable housing development company in San Mateo County. She began her involvement in local politics as chairman of North Fair Oaks, an unincorporated area in San Mateo County. She presided over the infrastructure upgrade of low- and middle-income communities in this affluent area, improving community security and business environment.
Out of concern for the future of California and the United States, Anna Cheng said that now is the time to actively participate in politics to protect important values such as freedom of speech, religious belief, and parental rights. She firmly believes that democracy flourishes when different voices are heard and respected; she advocates frank dialogue and active debate, believing that this is the cornerstone of effective governance.
Anna Cheng said that the issues she is most concerned about are the economy, education and civil liberties. She pointed to crime, homelessness, borders, inflation and government spending as all factors affecting the economy. In terms of education, she believes that in the context of economic globalization, we are not teaching children math and science, but teaching them how to distinguish people based on race, which is worrying. "
Anna Cheng is particularly disgusted with the term "people of color" and thinks it is full of discrimination. She does not want to enjoy lower standards of benefits because she is a minority, and hopes to be measured by the same standards. We also don’t want bills like AB 1955 to divide families. AB 1599 prohibits schools from disclosing a student's sexual orientation to parents without the student's consent.
Anna Cheng said that during the 2020 election, she was banned because she expressed some doubts about the integrity of the election on her Youtube channel. And I couldn’t upload my recent conversation with a conservative celebrity to my Youtube channel. She said that freedom of speech in the United States should not have censorship; she also disagreed with churches being closed during the epidemic because they were not critical services.
Anna Cheng said that she was very proud to be an Asian candidate. 26% of the voters in her constituency are Asian. She said that Asians attach great importance to family and hope to have high-quality education and a safe community environment. She is a good listener herself, and even listens to many Democrats to understand their concerns and look for opportunities where everyone can work together.
