Supporting Israel is vital

Open Letter:
Yesterday, my opponent issued a press release strongly supporting President Biden’s call for Israel to implement a temporary humanitarian pause in its ongoing military offensive in Gaza. The press release states, “As it pursues military action against Hamas, Israel must take all necessary precautions to minimize civilian harm in accordance with international law”.
While that sounds nice, my opponent is asking Israel to fight a war of self-preservation with one hand tied behind its back. Hamas violated international law on October 7 by killing civilians, including beheading babies, raping women, and taking hostages. They continue to violate international law by using human shields to defend its military headquarters and weapons.
Hamas must immediately free all of the October 7th hostages to Israel and begin negotiations for lasting peace. This is truly the only way to save innocent civilian lives.
My opponent’s one-sided call for cease fire ignores the reality that Israel is defending itself from attacks. Hamas is a terrorist group that has vowed to destroy them and must be stopped.
Furthermore, the United states can no longer give money to Iran and must restore the prior sanctions. Iran is using Western money for state sponsored terrorism.
Until we have strong leadership in Congress and the White House, we will not have US national security and peace in the Middle East. We need peace through strength and we need to strongly support Israel’s survival for democracy around the globe.
