On October 24, 2023, the Board of Supervisors held a Public Session to review the work of the Subcommittee and receive updates, presentations, and any recommendations it may provide. Members of the community came forward to express their concerns about the implementation of the bureaucratic oversight committee.

Anna Cheng Kramer who is running for CD15 in California opposed the move to have an unelected civilian oversight committee and voiced her support for the San Mateo Sheriffs Office and that the Board of Supervisors should let SB9 begin to work first for police transparency.
